FEED - Food & Economic Empowerment
FEED (Food & Economic Empowerment Division) encompasses a number of initiatives aimed at availing trusty, nutritious healthy food products and economic empowerment to the bottom of the pyramind (BOP) The current initiatives unde FEED include: The AgrePlus (TAP) - That builds impactiful Farm Field Schools and Inclusive Agro processing enterprises, targeting crops or plants that naturally do well in a particular region without requiring much inputs. The AgrePlus initiative aims at addressing the challenges of poverty, food scarcity and idleness in a business model The innovative Farm Field Schools serve to customise technologies to the local conditions and lead smoothly to inclusive agro processing enterprises Like all other Magisstar initiaves, the company works in partnership with suitable individuals, groups or organisations to set up sustainable and scalable solutions Reach out to us!
- TAP The AgrePlus that focuses on building agri-value addition (agro-processing) programs using an innovative agro strategy known as MINVASET (Minimum Input and Natural Value added Agriculture for Socio-Economic Transformation) MINVASET is an agro strategy that identifies strategic crops that naturally do well in a particular area without requiring much inputs. It then formulates a suitable value addition technology / strategy that transforms crops to a high value commercially appealing products. The program then facilitates farmers to grow the crops which are then added value through natural processing methods, packaged and the products sold to make money for the farmers and the program activities. Proposed Rooting Our Health and Wealth Program (RHWP) - Facilitating production and value addition for cassava, orange fleshed sweet potatoes and grain amaranth in the lower Igembe region, Meru County, Kenya ii. Pasture Plus - An initiative for sustainable Food and Feed solutions in ASAL
- Jireh Food Bank -> The Jireh Food Bank inititive faciitates optimization (maximization) of production, preservation and later utilization :- sale and consumption The program provides -An accessible low interest loan that facilitate food production and preservation - Safe storage facility for food stuff preservation - Supportive extension services The program also builds innovative food and feed preservation technologies
- WE CAN - > WE CAN (Water, Education, Community Agriculture and Nature) works by building or facilitating villagers to build a water source or provides a water solution; establishment of a Farmer Field School (FFS) – to identify a food production method that works best in the local area; formation of a Village Producer Group (VPG) and implementation of a nature enriching agro forestry The initiative supports villagers to build their own food and economic empowerment strategy that works best for their region. Working together with the other departments within Magisstar Centre of influence, and particularly, The AgrePlus and the Jireh Food Bank; WE CAN also facilitates agri-value addition, preservation and common marketing of the villagers produce
